Your Ward 1 neighbour is building a $1.9 million house. Seriously.

Okay, so your City Hall is really pushing for something big.

## Guess which Ward is getting a million-dollar house!

Alright, les amis, I've been sifting through the latest permits and applications from City Hall, and let me tell you, there's a lot of paper moving. But one thing really jumped out at me from the issued building permits: a single-storey detached dwelling in Ward 1, specifically at 56 Inglewood Drive, priced at a cool $1,910,124.

Think about that for a second. We’re not talking about a commercial complex or a new apartment building here. This is one house, nearly two million dollars, in the same city where people are fighting tooth and nail over affordable housing. It passed through the City's permitting process without a hitch, according to the records. While Ward 5 had a couple of substantial projects – a $1.9 million interior alteration for Co-operators Insurance on Standish Court and almost $89,000 for solar panels at 5434 Tomken Road – nothing quite hits like a single residential build topping the million-dollar mark.

It really puts a spotlight on the different kinds of development happening across the city, doesn't it? It's the kind of thing that makes you wonder what the neighbours are saying at their next Westboro brunch.

Keep an eye on those active development applications too, especially the proposed residential apartment building at 1970 and 1980 Fowler Drive in Ward 8. That could bring a lot more units, and hopefully, more accessible price points, to the city.

The real story is never on the Hill — it's always just off it. Simone Okafor-Bouchard, @offthehill_ott

Marie-Claude and the team will be talking about this on the show, you should listen in at mornings.live.
