Someone's dropping $1.9M on a single-storey home in Ward 1. What gives?

Your new neighbours are building a mansion on Inglewood

Bonjour, Ottawa. Simone Okafor-Bouchard here, and the real story is never on the Hill — it's always just off it. We've got some interesting movements from City Hall this morning, especially if you're keeping an eye on where our city is growing.

According to the building permit data released today, someone is dropping a cool $1,910,124 on a new, single-storey detached dwelling at 56 Inglewood Drive in Ward 1. That's not a typo, mon ami, almost two million dollars for a *single-storey* home. Clearly, we have some serious luxury builds happening, just off the regular radar. It definitely makes you wonder about the property values in that specific pocket.

On the development application front, Ward 8, specifically at 1970 and 1980 Fowler Drive, has an application in process for a residential apartment building. This is exactly the kind of density we've been talking about, bringing more housing options to different parts of the city. We'll be watching how that one progresses through the bureaucratic process.

It seems like the city's growth continues its steady, structured march outwards and upwards. What does this mean for you? Keep an eye on those property assessments; these permits are often a good indicator of where the market is headed.
