New building permits are showing a significant investment in both residential and commercial projects. A new two-storey detached dwelling with a finished basement and walkout at 865 Aviation Road in Ward 1 just got a permit for over $2 million. That’s a big one, for sure. Meanwhile, the Tim Hortons at 780 Bancroft Drive in Ward 11 is getting a reclad to its drive-thru window for just under $85,000. C’est la vie, you know? From multi-million dollar homes to drive-thru touch-ups, the permits tell a story of constant change.
But the one that caught my eye? The interior alterations with a new fire alarm system for a landlord at 5900 Keaton Crescent in Ward 5, for a whopping $1,556,164. This isn’t just a new coat of paint, no. This is a major update to an industrial space. It shows that even the behind-the-scenes infrastructure of our city’s economy is getting some serious attention.
* **Residential Boom:** Over $2 million for a new home in Ward 1. * **Commercial Refresh:** Tim Hortons getting a facelift in Ward 11. * **Industrial Upgrade:** More than $1.5 million for fire safety and alterations in Ward 5.
