Bienvenue to the Morning Wire. It looks like our friends at City Hall have been busy approving some significant permits, and one caught my eye — perhaps because I am often in a drive-thru, regrettably.
According to Ottawa's issued building permits, Tim Hortons at 780 Bancroft Drive in Ward 11 is getting a recladding to its drive-thru window. Permit #BP 3ALT 26-430, valued at $84,619, was issued for interior alterations and this exterior work. This is not just a coat of paint, no. This is a substantial investment for your double-double pit stop.
Now, for those keeping track of the city's growth, Ward 1 is seeing a new (2) storey detached dwelling at 865 Aviation Road, permit #BP 9NEW 24-5505, with a project value of $2,066,986. That's a serious footprint for a single residence, indicating continued development in areas not far from the Rockcliffe Parkway.
We're also tracking some active development applications. A new residential apartment building is in process for 1970 and 1980 Fowler Drive in Ward 8 (App #OZ/OPA 25 23).
