Seattle Kraken Game Recap: SEA 1, NSH 3

Your Seattle Kraken lost a tough one in Nashville

Waking up this morning, it feels a little like one of those grey, drizzly Seattle mornings where the liquid sunshine just won't quit. The Seattle Kraken fell to the Nashville Predators 3-1 last night, a road game that saw us chasing for most of the night. After Roman Josi's shot found the back of the net early in the first, it was Frank Gaudreau, with assists from Cole Stephenson and Kaapo Kakko, who tied it up for the Seattle Kraken late in the first period, giving us a flicker of hope. But a power-play goal from Ryan O'Reilly in the second and an empty-netter from Filip Forsberg in the final minute sealed our fate.

It was a tight game on paper, with shots almost even at 26-27, but the Predators just seemed to find that extra gear when it mattered. The Kraken defense looked a bit stretched at times, and giving up a power-play goal in a game this close always stings. Filip Forsberg was a constant threat for Nashville, assisting on their first goal and then icing the game with that empty-netter. For the Seattle Kraken, Frank Gaudreau's goal was a moment of brilliance, showcasing the kind of offensive spark we need more of to climb out of this slump.

This loss means the Seattle Kraken's hold on that Wildcard #3 spot is tenuous, sitting at 31-28-9 with 71 points. Our recent 4-6-0 run in the last ten games isn't the momentum we need heading into the back half of the season. Every point matters from here on out, and dropping games like this, especially against a team in the thick of their own playoff race, hurts. We need to regroup and find that deep-sea strength if we're going to make a serious push. The coffee at Storyville this morning probably tastes a little bitter for a lot of us.
