Your Victoria summer just got two times sweeter.

Your City Hall Is Getting Sweeter, Literally

Good morning from the island — we're still here, the orcas were spotted at Active Pass, and honestly, life is fine.

Well, here's the thing. City Hall has been busy, as always, and sometimes the quiet hum of new business licenses tells a story about where we're headed. Or, perhaps, where our collective sweet tooth is headed. According to the recent business license filings, Hazels Ice Cream Ltd. just received *two* new licenses (Licence #40784 and #40447) as a mobile bicycle vendor. Yes, two. Is it a sign of expansion? Or perhaps just a very organized approach to multiple carts? Either way, expect more delightful disruptions from bicycle bells and the promise of a cold treat as you wander James Bay or down by the Inner Harbour.

Speaking of new ventures, there's also Arcadia, an "Entertainment - Amusement Centre" (Licence #48095) setting up shop at 707 Johnson Street. What kind of amusement, you ask? A new arcade, perhaps, bringing a different kind of buzz to the block.

* Hazels Ice Cream Ltd. secured two mobile vendor licenses. * Arcadia is now licensed as an amusement centre on Johnson Street. * A new vet clinic, Downtown Veterinary Clinic, is open at 736 Caledonia Avenue.

What does this all mean for us, the residents of Victoria? It means more choices, more places to play, and certainly more ice cream as the days get longer. It suggests a vibrancy, a confidence from small businesses, that our little island city is still a place for new beginnings. Keep an eye out for those ice cream bikes; you'll know summer is truly here when you see them.
