A fire at your Legislature. What happened?

A fire at the Legislature, you guys

Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.

Okay, let's talk about a big one that just wrapped up. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to a structure fire right in the Legislature neighbourhood, hey? WFPS dispatch records show incident 2026059788 was called in at 4:59:25 AM today, April 22, 2026. Multiple units were on scene, including D4, E101, E103, E104, L1, and R4, which tells you it was a significant response. They had it resolved by 5:16:37 AM, so a quick turnaround from our crews. This is in the Fort Rouge - East Fort Garry ward.

### What Else is Happening Around Town

While the Legislature fire was the earliest big event, there's other stuff bubbling up.

* WFPS also dealt with a Hazmat incident in Varennes, in the St. Vital ward, at 6:55:29 AM today, April 22, 2026. E9 was on that scene. * The city's had six water-related complaints in the last 24 hours. Bridgwater Forest saw two of those, which is the highest for any single neighbourhood. * "Primary Transit Network Inquiries" is the top complaint to 311 today, with three calls in the last 24 hours. Seems like folks have questions about our transit plans, hey?

On the business side, five new liquor license applications just dropped this week, including Princess Auto, Chuck’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill, and even the Ukrainian House. It’s a sign of life, even if some of those names are a surprise for a liquor license application!

It’s always worth keeping an eye on these smaller incidents, as they can sometimes point to bigger infrastructure needs or community concerns. We’ll be watching to see if those transit inquiries turn into something more substantial at City Hall.
