We’ve got a couple of hazmat responses to report in East Elmwood, which is in the Elmwood - East Kildonan ward. According to our real-time civic intelligence monitor, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) has responded to two separate hazmat incidents there this morning. The first call came in at 6:22 AM, incident 2026073610, and the second at 7:34 AM, incident 2026073634. Both responses involved unit E2.
These incidents are happening on the heels of the WFPS just issuing a warning on May 13, 2026, about heightened fire risk due to dry, windy conditions across the city. The WFPS also responded to a wildland fire in the Assiniboine Forest yesterday, May 15, 2026, at 7:26 AM. This is definitely something to keep an eye on, especially with spring winds kicking up and things drying out quickly. Be careful out there, hey.

### Traffic Troubles and New Spots to Grab a Kokum’s Kiss
On the roads, our monitors show four motor vehicle collisions within an eight-hour span, from 5:04 AM to 7:42 AM this morning. Neighbourhoods like East Elmwood, Tyne-Tees, and Worthington were impacted. Road conditions might be a factor, so take it easy on your commute.
But it’s not all emergency lights and traffic delays. Our city is always growing, always shifting. We’ve seen eight new liquor license applications posted this week. That includes spots like Niverville Centennial Arena and Berto's Taqueria. And for those of you who appreciate our vibrant arts scene, Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art is also on that list.
