Your morning commute was rough and we know why, hey?
Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.
We're just past 10:00 AM Central, and if you felt like your drive in was a little... *dicey* this morning, the real-time Civic Intelligence Monitor confirms it. Between 7:30 AM and 7:44 AM today, June 4th, 2026, there were three motor vehicle collisions across the city. Those happened in North River Heights, Dufferin, and St. Matthews. The monitor specifically notes "road conditions a factor," which, you know, is classic Winnipeg, even in June, hey?
### Demolition Permits and New Flavours
Moving on to some development news from the end of last week. Three demolition permits were issued on May 29th, 2026. One is for 744 Ingersoll Street in Minto, in the Daniel McIntyre ward, with HAGEMEISTER HAULING as the applicant. Another is for 434 Lariviere Street in Norwood East, St. Boniface, applied for by JML Roofing & Renovations Inc. The third is for 74 Perry Bay in Mission Gardens, Transcona.
On the brighter side, our city's food scene is always bubbling up new things. We've got four new liquor license applications posted this week, according to the Civic Intelligence Monitor. Keep an eye out for Taste of Sri Lanka, Hong Kong Eatery, Barburrito, and Ocean Bites. It's good to see new businesses looking to make a home here, hey?
What does this mean for us? Well, those road conditions are something to watch, especially as we head into another busy week. And if you're looking for something new to try, the city's always got fresh flavours popping up.
