Your neighborhood fire update and what it means
Winterpeg. We built a city in the coldest place anyone has any business building a city — and it is genuinely wonderful. Good morning.
We're starting this morning's wire with some breaking news out of the Dufferin neighborhood. WFPS dispatch records show a significant structure fire response took place overnight. Two separate structure fires were reported at 3:12:29 AM and 3:15:41 AM on June 6, 2026, both in Dufferin, which is in the Mynarski ward.
The first incident, #2026087224, had a substantial response with 16 units, including Engines E101, E102, E6, and Ladder L16, on scene and was resolved by 6:22:36 AM. The second incident, #2026087225, was resolved quickly by 3:19:40 AM.
### Overnight Emergencies
It's a lot for one neighborhood in such a short time, hey? While the specific addresses aren't released yet, this kind of activity always makes you wonder what's going on, especially in older parts of the city like Dufferin.
Other urgent items from the real-time monitors this morning:
* A Hazmat response in Kirkfield, ward Charleswood - Tuxedo - Westwood, was reported at 6:41:53 AM. * The William Whyte neighborhood saw a cluster of 8 emergency calls in a four-hour window this morning. * Winnipeg Police Service reported 5 motor vehicle collisions in just nine hours, between 3:20 AM and 4:48 AM, across Minnetonka, McMillan, and Westwood. Road conditions are being looked at as a factor, according to the data.
You know, the North End, including Dufferin and William Whyte, is the soul of our city, full of history and community. When you see these clusters of emergencies, it hits different. We’ll be watching for any updates from the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service or the city on the cause of these Dufferin fires.
