Your Ducks almost had it but Vegas shut us down
Okay, so good morning, Anaheim. I know it's a bit of a bummer waking up to this one, but the Anaheim Ducks fell to the Vegas Golden Knights last night on the road, 3-1. Like, we really tried, but they just… found a way to finish. We kept it close through the first period, but Vegas got on the board in the second with a goal from Brett Howden. The Ducks really pushed hard in the third, and Mason Granlund tied it up around the 13-minute mark, which totally had me yelling at my screen! It felt like we had a chance to snatch one, you know? But then Ivan Barbashev scored for Vegas, like, a minute later, and Mitch Marner sealed it with an empty-netter. Ugh.
Honestly, the shots were pretty good for the Anaheim Ducks at 34-22, so it’s not like we weren’t generating offense. Lukas Dostal was, like, incredible in net, keeping us in it, especially after that first Vegas goal. The penalty kill was solid too, which is always a good sign when you’re on the road against a team like the Golden Knights. Jamie LaCombe and Jackson Carlson got the assists on Granlund’s goal, and it was a really nice play, showcasing that young talent we all get so excited about. It's just those crucial moments where we need that extra push to convert.
So, where does this leave the Anaheim Ducks? We're still sitting at 43-33-6, holding onto third in the Pacific Division with 92 points. Our last ten games have been a bit up and down, like, 2-6-2, but we did have a win going into this, so that momentum is still there, I think. We have some important games coming up, and every point is going to count, especially with teams breathing down our necks. We need to find that consistency, that fire, that makes the Honda Center just erupt. This team has the potential, we just need to, like, put it all together. You can feel the energy in Anaheim, even on a Monday morning, like people are just ready for the Ducks to really make a statement.
