Sabres look good but we're not celebrating yet
You know, walking down Elmwood this morning, grabbing my coffee from Spot, it’s a weird kind of quiet buzzing out there. Folks are talking about the Buffalo Sabres, sure, especially with the Montréal Canadiens coming to town tonight. But it's not that loud, boisterous type of talk like it used to be back in the Hasek days. It’s more… focused. Like everyone's holding their breath, but in a good way. Like we *know* this team is good, leading the Atlantic and all, but after fourteen years without seeing the playoffs, you learn not to get ahead of yourself.
You hear people at the Tim Hortons on Delaware, or even over at Duff's, saying stuff like, "Yeah, they're playing great, but remember 2007?" Or "Don't jinx it, man." It’s not anxiety, not exactly. It’s more like a deep-seated respect for how hard it is to win, and how long we've waited. There's a real confidence in the air, yeah, but it’s mixed with this quiet understanding that you gotta earn it, every single night. Let's Go Buff-a-lo!
