Your Pittsburgh Penguins are lookin' dangerous again
Yinz woke up to a good one, didn't ya? The Pittsburgh Penguins absolutely walloped the Detroit Red Wings last night, a 5-1 drubbing right there in our own Igloo. If you fell asleep after the first period, well, you missed a clinic. Rickard Rakell started the party early, then Anthony Mantha potted one, and Eduard Chinakhov — who’s lookin’ real good lately — scored to make it 3-0 before the first intermission. Detroit got one back on the power play in the second, but that was all they were gettin'. Josh Brazeau and Noel Acciari finished 'em off in the second and third, respectively. Shots were 31-23 our way, which tells ya the Pens were buzzin'.
This ain't just a regular win, either. This is huge for the Pittsburgh Penguins, pushin' their record to 38-21-16, good for 92 points and solidly in second place in the Metropolitan. That six-game winning streak is for real, and the boys are playin' with a fire that reminds me of those Cup runs. The mood in Pittsburgh this morning feels a little like when you finally get that perfect Primanti Bros. sandwich in your hands – pure satisfaction, yinz know? Every game matters from here on out, and this team is makin' a statement.
We're rollin' now. The schedule ain't gettin' any easier, but the Penguins are lookin' like a real contender again. This win gives us some breathing room and a whole lot of confidence heading into the final stretch. This is what we've been waitin' for all season, that classic Pittsburgh grit comin' through when it matters most.
