We needed that one, kid, and we coughed it up in Philly.
### Just Like That, It's Over
Last night was a gut punch. The Boston Bruins lost to the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 in overtime, and frankly, they looked flat for most of it. We all saw the shot differential: 19 for us, 31 for them. That's not a recipe for winning hockey, especially on the road. Charlie Dvorak got Philadelphia on the board early in the first, then Pavel Zacha finally buried a power play goal early in the third, assisted by Charlie Mittelstadt and David Pastrnak, to tie it up. You thought maybe, just maybe, they'd find a way to snatch the extra point. Then Patrick Martone got one past us on a power play in overtime, and that was it. Just like that, it's over.
This one stings because we're in the home stretch, and points are gold right now. We're still sitting 4th in the Atlantic with 95 points, holding that Wild Card 1 spot, but that cushion ain't what it used to be. The Boston Bruins have been 6-3-1 in their last ten, which is alright, but you want to build momentum, not drop games you probably should have won. Philadelphia played a tight game, credit where it's due, but we gotta be better, particularly with our offensive zone time and putting pucks on net.
It's a quiet morning in Boston, the kind where you can almost hear the wind whipping off the Charles. This loss, it feels like we missed a chance to put some distance between us and the chasing pack. We need to tighten things up, starting now. We got a tough stretch coming up, and every single point is gonna matter. This team needs to play like their lunch pails depend on it.
